Monica Williams-Dempster is Vice Principal with responsibility for Academic Affairs at Church Teachers’ College, Mandeville Jamaica. She has had a distinguished career in Education as a classroom teacher, lecturer, and administrator. She has also worked in the field of Auditing and Accounting in various private sector organizations, and is currently an adjunct lecturer in Masters Programmes for Temple University and The University of Technology, Jamaica.
Dr. Dempster is also a teacher educator with several years of experience in the design and development of formal and informal teacher education and training programmes for various categories of personnel. She served as Chairperson of the Curriculum Committee of Teachers’ Colleges of Jamaica and External Assessor for the Joint Board of Teacher Education.
She gained her early education at the Lowe River All-Age and the Holmwood Technical High Schools. She attended the Shortwood Teachers’ College, the University of the West Indies, Mona, obtaining an undergraduate degree in Economics and Management, and the Northern Caribbean University, earning an MBA. Later she gained a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Temple University, in the United States.
She enjoys getting her hands dirty doing backyard gardening. She likes listening to gospel and reggae music. She is guided by the philosophies that ‘nothing is impossible with God’ and ‘if you want to grow you must do more than you are paid for'. She loves the Lord and serves as a deacon at the Mandeville Baptist Church. She is passionate about character education of children and young people. She is married and has two adult children.
